JUNE STARMER SOWELL - Married Ronny Sowell in 1968 and we're still married after 32+ years! Son, Rob-29, Son-Jon Paul-28, daughter Jen-24 , two grandsons, and two granddaughters! I'm a Medical transcriptionist and Ron's business has its ups and downs (Elevator Engineer!) Lived in Tampa for 12 years but are back home in Georgia now. PERRY SAMPLES - Retired from UPS, two children, five grandchildren, live on Lake Oconee. GEORGE FREE - Married high school sweetheart Debbie Bradford in 1973 from Lakeside. Three daughters: Brook is 27 & married 6 years (no grandkids yet!); the other two are Brittney 20 & Sage 18, both in college locally. Hobbies are music, guitar & reading for pleasure. Vocation is SE Sales Manager for a fiber-optic network equipment manufacturer based in San Jose, CA. Reside in Lawrenceville, GA. JIMMY HALEY - Currently living in Melbourne, Florida. If you can remember the ZODIACS band, I was the drummer. Started the band with Greg Huff, Kenny Gable, and Al Roach. I have been married now for 31 yrs. Have 2 kids and 2 grandchildren. My wife's name is Peggy, I am retired Air Force of 21 yrs., and now own my own business (auto detailing) for the last 10 yrs. I was only able to make one reunion, and a great time was had by all. Would like to hear from all. BUTCH ANDERSON - Transferred to the Nashville, Tennessee area (Brentwood) in 1980 with the company (Fortis Insurance Company) I have worked for since 1972. Have not had much contact with many schoolmates. Did attend the 20 year reunion but have not had any contact since then. Would love to hear from any old schoolmates. Married with two children Brett(18) and Paige (13). JACK CAMPBELL - Went to college in North Carolina. Started working for Brown & Root a year after college and will be with them 29 years next May. Live in Humble, Texas with my wife Donna and children Kristi (18) and Casey (17). Two older children, Mike and Megan live here in the Houston area with their spouses. Mike has a daughter Morgan (3). DAVID DODD - After prison, moved around and eventually back to GA. Worked as assassin for Natl. Security Agency, posing as drug industry executive. Especially miss Trudy Turner, Mr. Wilson, the Figs, and every one else who helped me stay alive and survive the 60's, 70's, etc. BILL BIBB - Currently living in Georgia. I shouldn't laugh, since I'm serious. Class of 1968 DAVID SMITH - After graduating I joined the Air Force. I spent 27 years and retired in 1996 as a CMSgt. My wife and I met and married while I was stationed in Germany. We have a son, 16 and a daughter, 14. I currently live in Loganville and work for as a control room operator with a frozen food distributor. LINDA LANCE WOODS - I left Atlanta in 1968 to attend college at Georgia Southern University and have stayed in the area since. I am married (29 yrs) and have two daughters. Angelyn is married and a pharmacist and Jennifer is a student at Georgia Southern. I am currently a principal at an elementary school. There are never any dull moments at my job! The Georgia coast is a lovely place to live and I highly recommend visiting or living here. CHUCK CARR - Married 19 years (second time around was the charm). One daughter, two step sons. I have been in the medical biz for about forever, currently have my surgical laser company and living up in Ken'saw. Graduated from West Georgia College in '72, Graduate degree in Education, 1977. Married 26 years to Tommy, two children, 18 and 14. Now work part time as an Interior Designer. Class of 1969 MARY ANN COREY PERKINS - Currently living in Georgia. VICKIE COCKRUM HARRIS - I moved to Memphis in 1979. Got married in 1980, have one daughter age 17. I am a nurse and currently work in Quality Management at a local hospital. I love Memphis but still have many fond memories of Atlanta. Hope to hear from lots of my old buddies from Walker. ROBERT ANDERSON - I live in San Francisco, high on a hill to where cable cars climb. I've been here a long time and Atlanta is over for me. I barely graduated from high school but did well in college once I belatedly chose that path. When I was at Walker, the last thing I ever thought was that I would be a liberal Democrat living in San Franciso married to a Chinese woman. California has always been a haven for losers looking for a new start in life and it has been that for me. I'm glad for those of you who have good memories of Walker High and adolescence, but I have few, if any, good memories of high school life. However, one advantage to being a loser in high school is that things can only get better if one persists wisely along life's road.... DAVID GORDON - After school did National Guard Active duty, then hired on with AT&T and went to Georgia State for 2 years. Took early retirement in late '98 under a package for managers and worked several jobs that were fun during '99. January of 2000 went back into AT&T as a Consultant doing training under contract. I play lots of golf when the weather allows, spend time at Lake Oconee during the summers and have bought a lot with plans to move to the lake this year. Married for 29 years this May 20th, have three sons 26, 22, & 20, one of which is married and living in Orlando. Currently live in Conyers where we have been since 1974. I see classmates pretty regularly around Conyers and socially. Still have all my hair but it is practically white now, including the beard. Love to hear from classmates.... I'm now a registered nurse in SC, married with a 2l year old son. No gray hair yet, that I know of, because I am still blonde (but only my hairdresser knows for sure). JOANNE DELANO SMITH - Married 18 yrs with two 2 sons, ages 15 and 11. I am a partner in the Sylvan Learning Center in Stockbridge, GA, as well as the Center Director. JANICE CLOWER BERNHART - I am currently married, have two daughters ages 14 and 12, and live in Amman, Jordan. Before that we spent 3 years in Jakarta, Indonesia. My mother still lives in Georgia, my dad passed away 3 years ago. I go back to Georgia at least once a year for a long visit. I'm looking forward to the next reunion (as long as I don't think about how many years it's been since we graduated!). JOHN BARNETTE - Joined the navy and retired after 20 long years. I married Jan Broyles (class of 1974) you may have seen us together at a Walker High football game! We have been married for 27 years this year. Our (kids?) are Bryan 16 and Rebecca 21 this year. I worked for Eastman Kodak for 22 years and retired. Jan and I started a retail computer store in 1986 called "Stateline Electronics" located - where else? - on the state line between Georgia and Tennessee on I-75 exit number one. Stop by if you come to visit Rock City or the Aquarium! Has anyone heard anything of a 2001 Reunion? I think this would be a cool year to have an open reunion for all years to attend! I remember sitting in class adding up how old I would be in the year 2001! Thinking, "God I'll be old." Now I have a shirt from a few years back, that says: "I can't believe I once thought 40 was old!" Class of 1972 MARIA SAMPLES KIRBY - Living in South Carolina for the past 5 years. Married for 17 years to a wonderful husband. We have two beautiful daughters, Melissa 13, and Jennifer 9, two dogs, a cat, a bunny, and a goldfish. I have a Stepson who is 26 and we were blessed with twins which are now 16. I have been everything from a bartender to a loan processor but am currently an at home mom (for now anyway). Had some good memories from school. Of course my favorite class was art and I am still into that. Have done some paintings and even sold a couple. For anyone who remembers me, please send me email. My name in school was Cathy Lynne Cole, but I have legally changed that to Lisa Lynne...last name is now Davis. I had two sisters also at Walker, Renee Cole, class of 70, and Michelle Cole, who would have been class of 74 but moved before her senior year. MIKE HAM - Moved back to Georgia in October 2000, after living in Kansas for three years. I'm in administration in the health care field. In the psychiatric field to be exact. I'm sure a lot people are saying how appropiate that is (HaHa). Great to be back and I look forward to seeing some of the great Walker alumni. DANA FLOWERS - I have been married for 14 years and have three children, Emily-13, Cassidy-10 and Evan-6. Have four step-children. Work for a large HVAC contracting company as a Mechanical Engineer and have my own Mechanical Engineering company. In my spare time, I coach a U-13 Athena soccer team that my oldest daughter plays on that finished first in the state this past season. I spent many years in the Insurance business, opened several Video rental stores in the late 80s, sold them to get back into the Insurance business (who knows why). In June of 1995 I started a direct mail publication, with the intention of slowing down the pace & working out of my home 3 or 4 days a week & playing some golf now & then. Well it has now taken over my life & has grown into the largest direct mail publication in the West Cobb/Paulding County area! I have a sales staff of 3 & we opened our Office/Warehouse facility in Februrary of this year! Needless to say I now work 7 days a week!!!!! But I'm having the time of my life! KATHY REED BEEBE - Married current husband in 1985. Have 20 year old daughter and 9 month old grandson who is the love of my life! Moved to Oregon coast in 1989. My fondest memories of Walker are hanging out in the hallway with the bleacher bums and avoiding class by telling teachers I needed to practice my clarinet and then hiding out in the band practice rooms with other "slackers". My bestest buddies were Terri Bartlett, Jan Kirby, Butch Ballard, Cindy Benham, Eddie Chapman and last but not least Ken Nunn. Where are you now Ken and Terri??!!?? LANGDON PUGH - Currently living in Chicago, Illinois. Married for 21 years to a lovely lady from the Philippines. We met while I was there in the Navy from '76-'80. Was a sonar tech while there, stationed aboard the U.S.S. John Paul Jones DDG32. Been in Chicago since the mid '80s. Work for an automotive gasket manufacturer as a testing technician. BECKY PULLEN STANFORD - I have been living in Georgia since graduation. I married in 1973 and had 2 children, BJ and Frankie. We were divorced in 1979 and the kids and I lived in McDonough, GA. I met my current husband through the Atlanta Singles magazine and we married in 1982. We have been married for 18 years. BJ is 26, married and has 2 children, Andrew 3 and Abigail who is 2 weeks old. Frankie is 23, and is getting married in February 2001. His future bride has a son, Chad, who is 3 years old. My husband is the Publisher/Editor for "The Henry County Record" newspaper in McDonough, GA and has been there for 1 1/2 years. I am the Program Assistant for my county's 4-H and work out of the local extension office. My job is to visit every 5th and 6th grade class once a month to hold 4-H club meetings and teach a lesson plan given to us by UGA. I also help lead the Jr 4-H (7th-8th) twice monthly. I love 4-H and I do not remember us having it at Walker. My hobbies include quilting, arts and crafts. DAVID HOLBROOK - Currently living in Georgia. Worked in the medical field for twelve years, drove a semi tractor trailer for four years, lived in Texas (around Dallas) for 5 years. Now work for a motorcoach (big charter buses) company. LYNNE CLEMENTS CHILDERS - I'm working in Sandy Springs and just bought a house in Cherokee County. My daughter just turned 24 and is in school studying to be a computer programmer. I am a vegetarian, I work out 4 times a week, I take Yoga on Monday nights . . . let's see . . . unfortunately, I have 6 cats and am looking for a home for at least 3! I could go on forever! GEORGIA OWENBY BAKER - I married Barry Woodward and we had three children - Jimmy now 26, April now 23, and Brian now 22. We divorced in 1982 and I am now married to a Gwinnett County Police Officer. We have been together for 19 years. He also has two grown sons and a grown daughter. I have one step-grandson who is 3 and Jimmy and his wife are expecting a daughter in May. I work for Gwinnett County Police, first as a dispatcher, then a Police Officer, then a dispatcher and now I do Crime Analysis. I have worked here for 19 years. My oldest son is a teacher and his wife is a nurse at a middle school. My daughter works for a heating and air conditioning company in the office and is married to a Gwinnett County Police Officer. My youngest is away in the Army reserves and will be home soon to go to college. KAREN DEMARCE WORLEY - Married, grandmother, and a Deli Manager at Publix in Hiram, Georgia. Class of 1974 MICHELLE COLE MCDONALD - I moved from Walker in 1972, but the people there were the ones I had been through school with since first grade, so this will always be my alma mater. I have been married since 1982 and have two children, Jason - 17 and Dena - 15. I attended Walker's (class of '74) 10 year reunion, but have not been in contact with anyone since. Would love to hear from some old friends from Walker. ANITA JAKES DENNY - After the big exodus of 1974, my family moved to Newton County. I've worked for State Farm for several years and have also spent a few years in the music business as a keyboard player in an Atlanta-based oldies band called "Cruisin'"...definitely the best years of my life! I have two great boys, 20 and 22, and am expecting a first grandchild in about two weeks!! My favorite memory has got to be summers at Gresham Park ballfield...and those famous WHS dances! I belong to the Linus Blanket Project here in Putnam County, we make blankets for tramuatized and seriously ill children under 18.
